What SixM is and where it came from
SixM is the community shorthand for the next-generation multiplayer framework being prepared for Grand Theft Auto VI. It carries the spirit of FiveM (open-source, community-driven, scriptable) but is built from the ground up for the new map, the new streaming pipeline, and the new RAGE engine version Rockstar is shipping with GTA 6. The naming follows the same pattern that gave us FiveM for GTA V and RagePluginHook for the AI scripting era before that.
The framework is still in active development through community channels at the time of writing, and exact feature parity with FiveM is an evolving target. What is locked in: a server runtime that supports thousands of community resources, scripting in modern languages, and a deployment model that makes spinning up a server simple. Why SixM matters for GTA 6 roleplay
FiveM took years to mature on GTA V. Frameworks, scripts, escrowed assets, the whole ecosystem grew slowly. SixM is launching with that institutional knowledge already in place. Migrating from FiveM to SixM when GTA 6 arrives
Most resources will not port one-to-one. The map is different, the streaming pipeline is different, and several APIs will change. But the pattern of your server (the framework you picked, the jobs you run, the economy you balance, the rules you enforce) carries over. Database schemas for ESX/QBCore-style cities are largely portable, character data can usually be migrated with a transformation script, and your community moves with you.
