Using GTA 6 Server Locations in practice

Picking the right region on day one

Choose the region where the majority of your players are located. US East Coast RP: Miami or NY (Miami has slightly better peering to Southeast ISPs). EU RP: Frankfurt or London depending on where most of your players are. If you are unsure, you can use the panel's latency tester, which displays real pings to every region before you commit.

If your community's home region changes over time (many do), move free of charge to any region through the control panel. Zero cost, and no more than a few minutes of downtime.

Running a global multi-region community

If you have a community that covers US + EU + APAC, operate three regional servers that share auth and donor benefits. Players will automatically connect to the nearest regional instance. Consider this a GTA 6 community server hosting or enterprise blueprint. It's the only way to give a truly global community playable ping, no matter the timezone.

What migration actually looks like

Go to panel > settings > region. Select your new region and click confirm. This process can take between 2 and 8 minutes depending on the size of your server. The server's DNS (servername.gta6hosting.net) will automatically point to the new region so your players will reconnect to the same address with no changes needed. The GTA 6 backup system keeps a pre-migration snapshot in case you wish to revert.

Which region is best for a US East Coast RP server?

Miami for most communities, NY for New England and the mid-Atlantic. They both peer very well with East Coast ISPs. The panel's latency tester will give you real numbers before you commit.

What regions are best for European GTA communities?

Frankfurt serves DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and Eastern Europe. London takes care of the UK and Nordics. Amsterdam is responsible for Benelux. The majority of EU communities are split between Frankfurt and London.

Can I migrate regions without downtime?

Migration will take 2-8 minutes. Players will disconnect briefly, then automatically reconnect when DNS changes propagate. We will schedule this migration during your off-peak hours.

Are all regions priced the same?

Yes. There are no "premium region" add-ons. All 12 edge locations are priced equally for every plan. See full pricing.

Do you peer directly with major ISPs?

We peer directly with Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, BT, Deutsche Telekom, KPN, NTT, SingTel, Telstra, and Vivo. Plus IX membership at all major POPs.

Can I run a server in multiple regions simultaneously?

Yes, through multi-region clusters (Enterprise and custom plans). Players automatically connect to their nearest instance, auth is shared, and leaderboards work across servers.
